The Rotary Club of Washington, which now meets in The George Washington Hotel Golf and Spar, asked the general manager to present hi-viz tops to the newly formed Rotakids Club – pupils from Usworth Colliery Primary School. Like Rotary, the young members have an elected president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary and hold regular meetings to organise projects. The first project will be litter picking at Usworth, organised by Carol Attwell, Washington’s Littergate Lady, so they will be wearing their hi-viz tops for the first time.
