Simon sitting pretty with ScS board seat
Local lad Simon Nicholson is the latest addition to the trading board at Sunderland furniture giant ScS.
The long-serving merchandise controller has been appointed to the role of Furniture Buyer Director.
Simon, who describes himself as ‘born and bred in Fulwell’, attended Monkwearmouth School before joining ScS.
“I have been here for 30 years - I started when I was 23,” he said Simon.
“I know the ins and outs of the company - there are a lot of people who were here when I started and are still here.
“I think retention of staff is hugely important and, particularly here in our heartland of the North East, retention is pretty good.
“A lot of our people give great service and it is important that we keep them.”
Siomon is proud to be part of a long-established Sunderland business.
“The whole heartbeat of the business is here in Sunderland,” he said.
“It has been here for over 100 years and it is vital that we keep our roots here and continue to expand our head office.
“That will create more opportunities for local people.”
