Sunderland winger targets International Cup success

-

Sunderland’s youngsters are one game away from a European final.

Elliott Dickman’s Under-23 side take on Norwich City at Carrow Road tonight in the semi-final of the Premier League International Cup (KO 7pm) – with Porto awaiting the winners.

Winger Rees Greenwood insists there is enough quality in the Sunderland side to progress to the final but knows the young Black Cats – who beat Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals to reach the last four – will have to be on top of their game to go all the way.

“It is definitely a big game in our season,” said the 21-year-old wideman (pictured).

“We know if we get through then we are into a major final and that would be a great achievement for us.

“We have a long way to go before we can get there, and we know we nee dto produce our very best footb allifweareto get there. “We need to treat it like a ny other game, there i s no point over thinking it becauseitisa semi-final but it’s just a game of football. We know we have the quality in the group to win this match – we have to show itandmakesurewetakeour chances.”

Porto’s B team qualified for the final with a close-fought 1-0 success at Swansea City.

Sunderland will be backed by their 12th sold-out away support of the season in tomorrow’s crucial Premier League game at Watford.

Tickets for the Sunderland end at Vicarage Road have sold out, but there are still tickets available in the away end at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday (KO 7.45pm) when Sunderland visit Leicester City.

Tickets are priced at £30 for adults, £25 for U22s, £20 for U18s and £10 for U12s.
