Eppleton U15s off to a winning start

Eppleton opened their Durham Cricket Board Under-15 Junior League Division Two campaign with a 40-run victory over Seaham Harbour.

Eppleton posted 96-3, with Jake Pratt’s 35 from 37 balls, including four fours, backed by Layla Tipton (24) and Edward Brown (21).

Ben McKinney, Jacob Sennett and Raegan Pattison all struck for Harbour.

In reply, Seaham managed 56-3, with McKinney (22) topscoring, backed by Max Swainston (8). Paul Lawson, Tyler Beston and Josh Hutchinson all took wickets.

Hetton Lyons B beat Whitburn by 10 runs in a thriller.

Oliver Watt (29no), Jonathan Milburn (14) and 11 apiece from Jack Hutchinson and Reece McBride helped Lyons to 78-4, with Ewan Rennoldson taking 2-8.

Matthew Downey (19) and Isaac Barnett (13) led Whitburn to 68-5 in reply, with Taylor Vout grabbing 2-4.

Sunderland succumbed by 94 runs to Castle Eden.

Ben Simpson (52) and Unsworth (35) led Eden to 1452, but the Ashbrooke youngsters were bowled out for 51, with Johnson (12) top-scoring, as Ben Simpson took 3-1.

In Division One, Chester-leStreet beat Washington by 114 runs.

Ollie Barrett, James Hindmarsh and Harry Days all retired with half-centuries as Chester reached 190-0.

In reply, Matthew Clements hit four fours in an unbeaten 39, with Tyler Dutton adding 13 as they closed on 76-7.

Durham City edged home by five wickets against Ryhope (106-6). Burnmoor held on for a 19-run victory over Dawdon in Division Three.
