THOMMO HITS DOUBLE FOR THE WILD BOAR
HOUGHTON RUN RIOT IN THEIR GAME AGAINST SEDGEFIELD
Houghton Wild Boar enjoyed a comfortable 7-1 Durham County Sunday Cup win over Sedgefield Social Club.
Rob Thompson netted a couple, along with goals from Shaun Corner, Liam McKitten, Chris Rogerson, Matthew Lockey and David Banks.
Boar centre-backs Philip Thompson and Dominic Hogg kept Sedgefield at bay, while man of the match Karl Anderson orchestrated things from midfield.
Gilesgate Woodman Inn proved comfortable 4-1 winners against Wearmouth CW Juniors.
Woodman were four up by half-time, with Richard Begg firing the first two goals, including a penalty.
Dan Hatton extended the lead, and Andrew Wood hit a fourth from a corner.
Wearmouth capitalised on a lack of concentration to grab a late consolation.
Quarrington Hill WMC suffered a 7-0 trouncing against Leam Lane WMC, with Josh Wilde (2), Andrew Williams, Curtis Aitken, Joe Mole, Anthony Kew and Jordon Bolton all netting
Chester Garden Farm progressed, beating Gateshead Sunday League club Highwayman 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Witton Gilbert WMC exited 2-1 to Stanley RAFA, while New Brancepeth WMC lost 3-0 to High Handenhold Bird Inn.
Burnside WMC showed great character to come from two goals down to win 3-2 at Durham County in an entertaining First Division match.
Callum Munro missed an early penalty for Burnside, and County capitalised to go ahead with strikes from Alex Hird and Bradley Hird.
But the game turned on its head after a Steven Macdonald bullet header brought the visitors back into it.
Elliot Cutts levelled, then Munro bagged the Burnside winner.
Keeper Darren Moody was Burnside’s star man, with Chris Brown best for County.
Bede Lodge bagged a firstminute opener and did not look back in a 5-3 win over Chester Hilda Park.
Bede caught out their visitors in just 10 seconds, and they deservedly stormed 4-0 ahead by the break.
Hilda regrouped in the second half, with Adam Bell striking twice and Chris Days also scoring, but Quinn, Hodgson and Mann were all among the goals as Bede comfortably held firm to see out the win.
Chris Watson stood out for Hilda.
East Rainton needed a lastgasp goal to squeeze home 3-2 at Lumley Snooker Club in an end-top-end thriller in Division Two.
Skipper Jonathan Gaunt bagged a double, but the game was level going deep into stoppage time, until Lee Gaunt fired a 95th-minute winner, turning well and nutmegging unfortunate keeper Michael Carroll, to secure all three points.
Ross Hughes had given Lumley an early lead and they levelled at 2-2 when sub Carl Tingley finished from four yards
Ollie Hotchkiss was outstanding for Rainton.
Dubmire WMC secured an impressive 7-4 win at Ouston Juniors, having dominated the first half and ending it 5-1 up.
Ouston got back to 5-4, but Dubmire struck twice more to ensure the points.
Stephen Donkin (2), Ste- ven Wilson (2), James Norton, Jackson Husband and Mark Liddle did the damage.
Conner Anderson, Joseph Faley, star man Matthew Cornish and Scott Johnson notched for the home side.
Grange Villa defeated Bowburn 5-3 in an entertaining clash.
Liam Mitchell lobbed the opener on his way to a welltaken hat-trick, finished off when he picked up Mark Greener’s pass and beating the keeper at his near post.
Fidele Doguie’s sweet strike and a Ben Jefferson goal made it five, with Michael Brown starring.
Pittington were convincing 4-0 winners at Houghton Chilton Lodge, who are struggling with injuries and work commitments. Callum Elliott was Lodge’s top performer.
Ouston Cherry Tree made it two wins out of two, beating Brandon Sports Club 3-1 in the Premier Division.
Ouston were the better team throughout, but found themselves behind to Michael Fort’s disputed penalty, with the hosts claiming that keeper Dom McMahon had pulled out of the challenge before any contact was made.
Centre-half Tom Gray headed home Michael Ross’s fine cross to equalise, then Andrew Clarkson made it 2-1, set up by the unselfish Josh Fryer after the defenders and keeper blocked three efforts.
Gray made it 3-1, bundling home a loose ball from a set piece.
Champions Pelton RAOB convincingly walloped Sacriston Cricket Club 5-0 despite not being at full strength. Rob Draper shone for Sacriston.
Newton Aycliffe Huntsman won 2-1 at Sedgefield St Edmund’s, who pulled one back through John Maddison’s acrobatic overhead kick late on.
Huntsman relied on Stuart Owen’s free-kick and a Kieran Megran strike. Keeper Michael Brown starred for Saints.
Chilton WMC beat neighbours Ferryhill Dynamoes 3-1, thanks to Byron Brown’s brace and a penalty from Kieran McWaters. Nile Rutter hit Dynamoes’ late consolation.
In the Fourth Division, Newton Aycliffe Navy Club ran out ruthless 9-2 winners at Bearpark, who had Dylan Crooks and Michael Gibbons on target.
Durham Rangers edged a 3-2 victory at Ferryhill Community Hub.
