‘Every student matters to us’
WASHINGTON ACADEMY’S AMBITION IS TO ENCOURAGE EVERY CHILD TO ACHIEVE THEIR BEST
Washington Academy opened its doors for the first time on September 1.
This is an exciting time in the evolution of a school that, in its various guises, has stood on its current location, serving our families and their community, for over 100 years.
We believe that our decision to convert to an academy will give us the freedom to develop a unique approach to teaching and learning.
This, coupled with our commitment to working with schools from across the North East and the rest of the UK, will serve to profoundly improve the educational outcomes and lives of the young people in our care.
Washington Academy offers maximum opportunities for young people to develop academically and socially in an environment that is stimulating, caring and supportive.
We set high standards and instil firmly-held traditional values that support our students in developing into confident and responsible young adults.
The pastoral organisation of Washington Academy ensures a sharp focus on the well-being and academic progress of the students.
High standards of behaviour, based on respect for each other, and the academy environment are paramount as we believe that this fosters a real spirit of community and co-operation. An excellent range of extracurricular activities, trips and leadership opportunities is available for our students making Washington Academy a vibrant community in which all are encouraged to develop their talents to the full.
Every student matters to us; we are committed to developing well-rounded individuals with a thirst for life-long learning.
It is our ambition that every child will achieve their best and look back on their time at Washington Academy with fond memories and a real sense of achievement.
