Hailing rising results at Sandhill

GCSE EXAMINATION SUCCESS

-

“Congratulations to all of our Year 11 students.

“Following their recent success of our former students in Southmoor Sixth Form with their A-level results, our Year 11 GCSE students have also risen to the challenge and produced some impressive results.

“Sandhill View continues to build upon its progress with another year of improved results.

“This set of results sees a continued increase in the outcomes for our students for the third consecutive year.

“We have seen significant increases in the outcomes of our disadvantaged learners and we are also very pleased with student performance in subjects such as English, Languages, ICT, Health & Social Care, Art & Design and Sport.

“Sandhill View continues to grow, improve and helps support our students in getting to where they want to be after leaving school to a high level.

“Things will improve even further as we continue to raise expectations and standards for each and every one of our learners.

“With former Sandhill View alumni now on their way to top Russell Group Universities, such as Durham and Glasgow, after attending our associated Sixth Form at Southmoor Academy, things are looking bright for the future of our students!

“This year has seen the introduction of new and tougher GCSEs in English and maths.

“With the very top grades being scarce nationally, a special mention goes to one student in English language and one in English literature who achieved the elusive top grade 9s.

“We are particularly proud of Georgia Cuthbertson and Luke McFarlane in achieving this standard.

“The English Baccalaureate continues to be the GCSE gold standard and with less than one fifth of pupils achieving this nationally, it was great to see that nearly one fifth of Sandhill View’s Year 11 achieved this even with the harder threshold of English and maths at L5+.

“Many of our departing Year 11 students have made the choice to continue their education at Southmoor in the hugely popular and successful Sixth Form.

“And we look forward to following their future success in their A-levels and beyond.”
