A Halloween Spooktacul­ar will take place at West Boldon Lodge Environmen­tal Centre, on the outsrirts of West Boldon Village, near A19 Testo’s roundabout. It will be a fun packed couple of hours with a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Sessions take place on October 27, 28 and 31 and events are suitable for four to 10-year-olds. Tickets are £10 and must be booked. Contact westboldon­lodge.co.uk for bookings or informatio­n. The Lodge is 20 years old this autumn and is already planning the next 20 years with tree and bulb planting, supported by the Postcode Local Trust. Celebratio­ns will take place at a party on Tuesday, October 24, from 10am to 3pm. No need to book, just turn up and pay £2 on the door.

Boldon School Year 11 Prom was held in June in Lumley Castle. More than 100 students and staff attended the event and the evening was a great success. The students all looked amazing and they enjoyed a three-course meal before dancing the night

away. Ben Donnison and Erynn Harris were crowned Prom King and Queen. The students’ behaviour was impeccable and was commented upon by the staff at Lumley Castle.

Boldon Miners and Community Banner Group will meet in The Robert’s Room in the Boldon Community Centre on New Road, Boldon Colliery, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 3. Anyone interested in mining history and their banners is welcome to attend. for friends and residents of Keelboat Lodge. He was very funny and everyone was fascinated with his magic. Even though he is based in London everyone hopes he will pay another visit. On September 15, Keelboat staff held a coffee morning and raise £160 for Macmillan Cancer support.

Hendon ward surgery will be held at Back on the Map in Hendon Library on Tuesday, October 3, from 4pm to 5pm also at Chance, 2 Rickaby Street, on Thursday, October 5, from 3pm to 4pm with Coun Barbara McClennan in attendance at both venues.

Parent and Toddler group meets at Sunderland Minster on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Sunderland Antiquaria­n Society Archives at the Sunderland Antiquaria­n and Heritage Centre, 6 Douro Terrace, are open for research on Wednedays and Saturdays from 9.30am to noon.

Sunderland Maritime Heritage had a busy weekend as part of Heritage Open Days, welcoming over 100 visitors to the workshop. With the new academic year starting members will be giving students from Sunderland College some valuable experience as part of their college course. They continue to offer their joinery service and their next newsletter is due out in the next few weeks.
