QPR’s Jack looks for Sunderland boost
QPR defender Jack Robinson hopes that the Londoners can build on an encouraging performance against Fulham when they visit Sunderland next weekend.
Though QPR succumbed to a 2-1 Championship derby loss to the Cottagers last Friday, ex-Liverpool starlet Robinson feels there were plenty of good points for the Loftus Road men.
Notably, they had 25 shots on goal. Robinson, 24, said: “The fans could see we were at Fulham from the first minute.
“We had so many shots, so many chances, but we just couldn’t finish them off. It just wasn’t dropping for us, they were getting blocks in, and then at the other end their first goal goes in off my leg!
“It was just unlucky but that seems to be how we are at the minute, unlucky. The lads afterwards were disappointed we lost but we weren’t down because we were happy with the performance. “The fans seemed happy with the performance, so we should be too. “We have to take the positives, think about how well we played and then make sure we take that into Sunderland after the international break.”
Left-backRobinson is enjoying his role in the middle of a trio of centre-backs at QPR.
“I am happy with how I’m playing,” he added. “People were saying after the Fulham game that I played well and that’s nice, but I am literally just happy to be playing.
“It’s been a hard couple of years, so to get through that run of games is massive for me. That’ s six in a row now and I didn’t expect that at the start of the season. To get that behind me is an unbelievable feeling.”
