South Hylton show steel to make it a perfect 10 in league

South Hylton A made it 10 wins in a row in the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League with a win over Steels to continue their league title pursuit.

Leaders South Hylton travelled to Steels and started well with Adam Smith pinching the first frame, before Tommy Ayre levelled the match.

Gavin Dixon won the third frame before Graham Rutland increased the lead in the next frame.

In the pairs, a 44-break by Smith, when paired with Rutland, helped win the frame, beating Ray Charlton Senior/ Vince Flynn 83-50 for the 4-1 win.

Harland Davidson got Seaham Conservati­ves B off to an excellent start away to Biddick A before Justin Ebdy won a close second frame.

A 22-break helped David Adamson pull one back for Biddick, but Colin Dobson continued his good run when seeing off Rod Turnbull.

Tony Grimes/Robin Midson won the pairs when beating Adamson/Graham Smith 69-56 for an excellent 4-1 win.

The match between South Hylton B and Glendale was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Glendale took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Boldon CA eased to a 4-1 victory over Mill View as Graeme Ablett and Derek White put them into a 2-0 lead.

However, Lee Dixon replied to pull one back for Mill View.

John Smith increased Boldon’s lead before teaming up with John Cox to win the pairs for the 4-1 win.

Pennywell Comrades B secured their first victory of the season with a 3-2 success over The Victory.

Chris Hallett clinched a close first frame before Gerry Porter levelled the match.

Darren Dowell moved The Victory into the lead before Eddie Dodds won a close fourth frame.

In the pairs, Chris Hallett/ Andrew Doran won Pennywell the match, edging out Ray James/Dowell 45-33 for their maiden victory.

Kevin Harrop got Pennywell Comrades A off to a good start away at Seaham Conservati­ves A, while Dean Taylor added another frame for Comrades.

Joe Turner won another black ball frame before Les Pinder potted replied for Seaham.

In the pairs, Taylor/Stuart Taylor beat Robert Cougle/ Pinder 73-40 for the 4-1 win.

Elsewher in the league, The Hetton Centre claimed a 3-2 away vitory at Lumley, while Biddick B also claimed a narrow 3-2 success over Murton Officials.
