God does not want us to have a tired, boring mundane life

- Rev Simon Burin, Enon Baptist Church

I like my car even though the young people in my church make fun of it.

It’s black, I like the style, it’s comfortable with air-conditioning, Bluetooth, etc and it gets me from A-B.

However, if the car had a flat tire, then it doesn’t mater how fast it goes from 0-100, it doesn’t matter how good the air-con is, it is not doing the job it was designed to do.

I can sit in the seat and enjoy the radio, I can sit in it and enjoy the air-con yet with a flat tire, it’s not taking me to work.

It’s exactly the same for all humanity, each of us are made in the image of God, yet we all have issues that need dealing with, whether it be a flat tyre, or a broken windscreen, or wonky mirror, none of us are made the way God intended in the garden of Eden … all of us need to move on. There’s a story in the Bible about God’s people trapped in Egypt.

All they ever knew was death, slavery, hopelessness – a forgotten people.

Yet in contrast, God promised to free them and give them a better life.

Where there was death, God provides deliverance, where there was slavery – freedom; hopelessness – hope, a forgotten people – belonging.

You see, God does not want us to have a tired, boring, mundane life, but what the bible calls “an abundant” life.

Whatever burdens, anxieties, issues you are carrying, God invites you to come to him so you too can be more of the person He wants you to be.
