FIRTH TO CRASH THE PARTY

SEEYOUATMIFDNIGHT THE STAR ATTRACTION, BUT IT COULD BE BEST TO SIDE WITH FIRTH OF THE CLYDE

-

All eyes will be on Seeyouatmidnight as he returns to action at Carlisle tomorrow, but Firth Of The Clyde can crash the party in the 188Bet Mobile Veterans’ Handicap Chase.

Sandy Thomson’s charge needs to run in order to qualify for next month’s Grand National, but given he has been off the track for almost a year, the 10-year-old might just need a sharpener here.

That leaves the door open for Firth Of The Clyde, who won this race in 2016 and has batted away well in his four subsequent outings.

Clearly he is not the most robust of horses as he has run just 25 times at the age of 13, but he certainly has ability on his day and perhaps just needed the outing when fourth at Newcastle on his most recent effort. That was his first run for 100 days so he should feel the benefit and the patient approach of connections should pay dividends once again.

Point Of Principle appeared to thrive for a lengthier trip when winning at Ascot last month and he can build on that in the Best Odds Guaranteed At 188Bet Novices’ Hurdle.

Upped to an extended two miles and three furlongs on his penultimate start, he had to settle for second after a couple of costly jumping errors, but he showed an excellent attitude to come out on top in Berkshire last time.

His rating shot up 11lb following that victory and he looks streets ahead of his rivals.

Fresh from Cheltenham Festival success with Missed Approach in the Kim Muir, Warren Greatrex can enjoy another winner at the more humble surroundings of Ffos Las.

Fly Du Charmil camn strike in the Davies Chemists Ltd Handicap Hurdle.

The way he stayed on powerfully last time suggests the extra half a mile will not pose a problem.
