Author follows in his teacher’s footsteps

-

A former Washington school pupil is following in the footsteps of one his teachers after seeing his first novel in print.

Food-production factory worker Shaun Duffy only recently discovered his old drama tutor is the world-famous Terry Deary, author of the Horrible History books.

Shaun, 52, contacted his old teacher about his own first steps into fiction and Terry responded by buying a copy of his stunning historical novel, The Washington Triangle.

Shaun, who now lives in Tynemouth with his dog Max, said: “I only found out recently that Terry was one of my old school teachers at Washington Comprehensive.

“I sent him an email, thinking he would be too busy to even read it.

“Well I was wrong, he replied within three hours – and I have since had two further emails from him and he has bought my book.”

The Washington Triangle has already reached the top 10 in Amazon’s American historical fiction chart.

Shaun’s explosive novel is based on the premise that the American Constitution and the country’s Supreme Law are invalid due to recently surfaced evidence of fraud and corruption.

Shaun admits it has taken almost a decade to bring his thought-provoking thriller to the page.

He added: “The Washington Triangle is about the hunt for the Document of Truth, which would bring America to its knees. Over the eight years of writing, half was taken up in research.”
