RCA put on super show at Seaham

-

Sunderland RCA produced a prolific display to inflict a 5-0 defeat on Seaham Red Star last night.

It was the visitors who took the lead in the ninth minute as Nathan O’Neill got above Red Star keeper Jordan Harkness to head into the empty net.

The RCA striker doubled his tally for the night and his side’s lead on 21 minutes when he looped a header over Harkness at the far post.

Martin Swales’ side always looked most likely to grab the next goal and it was Dom Moan who got it as he raced through on goal and slid the ball between Harkness’ legs.

After a scrappy start to the second half, it was RCA who put the game beyond doubt with a goal from James Armstrong on 54 minutes.

The midfielder broke in behind the Red Star defence and casually lobbed the ball over Harkness and into the net.

RCA stretched the lead to five with 13 minutes on the clock thanks to a penalty from Jon Davis and that helped his side move up to tenth in the table.

Hebburn Town Reserves moved to the top of the Wearside League table with a 4-1 home win against Horden CW.

The visitors took the lead on South Tyneside thanks to a fifth-minute strike from Peter Crawford.

A Ryan Bolam penalty got the hosts back on level terms on the quarter-hour mark before Adam Sharp put them ahead on 32 minutes.

Bolam grabbed his second of the night just after the hour and Nathan Sinclair rounded off a good night for Kevin Bolam’s side with a goal two minutes from time.

Marseille have announced the signing of Holland midfielder Kevin Strootman from Italian side Roma.

The Ligue 1 outfit have paid an initial 25million euros (£22.7million) for the 28-year-old, which could rise by an extra three million euros based on player and club performances. Strootman is the latest player to leave the Italian capital following goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s transfer to Liverpool and Radja Nainggolan’s departure to Serie A rivals Inter Milan.
