Dean catches the ear of top talent scout

“I just can’t believe my luck to be spotted playing at the Harbour View and here we are six months later having had my music mixed and mastered and an album released by a Grammy-nominated record producer and engineered in Nashville too.”

The first single from Truth, Fine Tomorrow, went straight into the top 10 downloaded tracks by radio stations in the USA and Global Entertainm­ent and Media has submitted Dean and Truth for considerat­ion for next year’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Dean James and the Black Dogs will be launching Truth at the Cluny, Newcastle, on Friday, September 28, for which GEM Records UK producer Geoff Wilbourn is flying in from the USA to join in the celebratio­ns.

The Harbour View Speakeasy runs every Thursday at the Harbour View pub in Roker, from 8.30pm. It features regular performanc­es from founders George Shovlin and George Lamb, as well as guest performers.

Forthcomin­g highlights include performanc­es from Jim Murray and Rob Mason, who are well-known on the North East blues scene, on September 20, and Don Meah and Jimmy Smith on September 27.
