1O things you said about SAFC star Charlie Wyke’s injury setback

‘COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE... OTHERS MUST STEP UP TO THE PLATE NOW’

-

Charlie Wyke was yesterday ruled out for up to two months with the knee injury he suffered in a collision with Burton Albion goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov at the weekend. The Sunderland striker had only just returned to the side after missing the start of the season with a different knee injury picked up in pre-season. Fans took to Twitter and commented on our story about Wyke’s absence. here’s a selection of their comments:

1 The lack of investment funds is beginning to show its effects. If no improved players in January forget promotion – Mordey St

2 . Well... if you sign an injured player .... – Dick Stockton

3 A couple of weeks ago this wyke would not have been missd the style of football we were playing but now we are playing the coward’s way ..... long ball ..... he was going to be pivotal to that working. Have we not a centre forward in the academy who could take his chance to impress?? – Alan Brown

4 The ‘short term’ could be Christmas. What happens if Josh Maja or Jerome Sinclair were to be injured ?? Even in the short term. SAFC need to get on ASAP with some more cover. We have just see that this team can be beaten, which came as a shock to us all. It can happen, and it is going to happen. Let us not encourage it to happen. Get on and do something about it NOW – Anthony Mitchell

5 We failed to strengthen in key areas and I fear we will pay the price for it yet again – Stan Hardy

6 Sad to hear about Charlie Wyke’s injury. Although when I first got a look at that tackle I expected a broken leg. So two months isn’t as long as I thought. Just coming into the swing of things as well . #SAFC – @PatrickJG98:

7 Two months is a better result than I expected after seeing the collision. Thought we lost Wyke for the season! –@ ConnorBromley

8 To be fair 6-8 weeks isn’t too bad to what some people will have thought –@ MattKBSAFC:

9 That’s good new to be honest, feared the worst after that challenge, Keeper absolutely took him out – @_TobiasJames_

10 It’s tough at the top. To be honest, Wyke didn’t look match fit to me. Anyway it’s bad luck. We regroup and push on. The January window could be huge for us. Steady the ship until then and hope for two good signings or loans to push us for promotion – Ian Smith
