Forster strikes to beat Vets

-

Houghton Cricket had a goal from Michael Forster to thank for their 1-0 win at Billingham Vets.

They had the better of the first half, but it took until the final two minutes of the half to make it count.

Keith Ridley played a through ball and Forster did the rest.

The second half was fairly even with both sides having chances, but there were no further goals.

Pennywell Comrades Vets had to be patient in their game with the Doxy Lad, but eventually ran out 5-0 winners.

Stuart Davison hit a hat-trick, backed up with a penalty from Sean Middleton and an own goal.

Tony Redman, in goal for the Vets, kept his team in the game early on with some outstanding saves.

Plains Farm Alldec kept the winning run going with a 2-1 victory over South Shields Catholic.

After a couple of early chances were missed, Plainsy took the lead as inform forward Mark Naile struck again.

Shields equalised from the penalty spot but Alldec had the final say as sub Tom Wilkinson scored a welltaken winner.

Hartlepool Catholic Club made their first ever visit to play Washington Biddick and came away with a 1-1 draw.

In the second half there looked to be only one winner and that was Catholic Club, but given that Biddick had the best of the opening half, a draw was probably a fair result.

Gary Easson kept the Club in the game in the first half with two or three cracking saves, and whilst they were seeing plenty of the ball they hardly looked like scoring.

Biddick took the lead on the half hour mark when a defensive mistake allowed the ball to be crossed in for a close-range finish.

Catholic finally threatened in response to going behind when Robbie Wright jinked his way through the home defence only to see his effort hit the post.

After the break it was the turn of Biddick’s keeper to star as Catholic dominated. Catholic finally got the equaliser after 65 minutes. Shaun Bates picked out Brendan Hampshire, who drilled the ball home.
