Sky is the limit for Southwick after win

In the Joe Holborn Memorial Cup first round, Southwick enjoyed another convincing win as they swept away Washington Sky Lounge 6-0, thanks to goals from Clayton Davis (2), Fairley, Laidler, Ross and Butler.

Pennywell Comrades dumped the Stella out of the cup with a superb 5-1 win, courtesy of goals from Josh Dick (2), Howell, Snowdon and Ord.

Grange Park knocked out RCA Grangetown on penalties when the game finished in a 3-3 draw.

The Florists had David Stevens and Robinson (2) on target, with Grange Park replying through Tansey, Fisk and Catcheside. Grange Park did the job in penalties and came out 4-2 winners.

Silksworth CW defeated Ryhope Forresters 4-3. On target for Silksworth were Paul Brooke (2), March and Harry Monday.

Spence, Davies and McKenzie responded for Grangetown.

Wearmouth CW are out of the cup after Stackyard prevailed on penalties, losing 5-4.

Callaghan (2) and Williams (2) hit the net for Wearmouth, but Galey, Jones and Gales (2) replied for the Stackyard.

Thorney Closes eased to a 6-1 win over the Port of Call, thanks to Aaron Forrest, who scored four goals, followed by an Alexander brace.

In the Premier League, New Town piled more pressure on Sunderland Railway Club with a 2-0 win.

Hylton Castle TC Plastics lost 4-1 against Stella.

Drysdale scored for Hylton, but the visitors had John Noble (2), Hepplewhit­e and O’Neill finding the net.

Lansdowne carved out a well fought 1-0 win over Redhouse Last Orders, with a Luke Richardson penalty winning the game.

Herrington CW shocked Washington Teal Farm in a 10-goal thriller.

Herrington won it 6-4, with Lewis Herron scoring four goals in the process.

Teal Farm hit back with Lee Cuthbertso­n hitting a hat-trick and a Brian Quinn strike. Herrington took the points when Clemence and Morrison rounded off the scoring.
