Vest of health for Theo...

- By Richard Ord

What better way to start a week that normally heralds doom and gloom than to shed a ray of joyful light onto little boy’s life?

As the usually ominous and wallet-bashing Budget is unveiled today, the family of cystic fibrosis sufferer Theodore Marshall have revealed their son’s plight and made a polite request for support to ease his condition.

A specially-designed vibrating vest which costs £15,000 can help with eight-month-old Theodore’s condition.

But rather than dwelling on the negatives, Theo’s mum and dad are keen to highlight the positives.

While the treatment their boy endures every day can be gruelling for the wee man, the prognosis is far better than it would have been for cystic fibrosis (CF) sufferers just a decade ago.

Theo’s dad Gabriel Marshall outlined the message he is trying to get out.

He said: “A lot of people have the old mentality of ‘oh dear’ as CF ten years ago meant a very short life span for a lot of people.

“This is one of the things we’re trying to make people aware of is that it’s not the case any more it’s not doom and gloom for CF because of the procedures they have implemented at such an early age it can be addressed. And he’s living proof of it.”

The family are hoping to secure all the money for the vest, and then take their fundraising further to help other families. A brilliant gesture.

Today’s Budget may well be a cause for concern, and if so, hopefully, the positivity of Theo’s family will ease the doom and gloom.

If, as we hope, it’s an austerity-busting Budget which leaves you a few pounds better off, thanks to Theo we now know the perfect place to inVEST your spare cash!
