SOUTHWICK CLOSE IN ON CUP

Southwick romped home to a convincing 11-1 victory over Thorney Close side to stake a spot in the semi-final of the Joe Holborn Memorial Cup .

Southwick had both Fairly and Ross hitting hat-tricks in the rout.

Southwick’s other goals came from McGregor, Kane, Fowler, Stokell and Jack Devlin.

Thorney did get on the scoresheet with a consolatio­n goal from Connor Barnes.

Stella Dons will meet Southwick CW in the semifinal after they scrapped past Silksworth CW with a 3-1 win.

Ryan March hit another goal for Silksworth to continue his good form, but the Dons overturned the early strike with goals O’Neill, Williamson and Young.

Callum Hope scored twice and Drysdale added a third as Hylton Castle TC Plastics beat The Lansdowne 3-1.

Ben Cains scored for the away side, but they couldn’t breach Hylton’s defence anymore. Pennywell Comrades halted the Stackyard winning streak with a great hard fought 3-1 win.

The Stackyard could only find the net with the last kick of the game through Davis, but Pennywell were comfortabl­e throughout.

Josh Dick was a thorn in Stackyard’s side and finished the game with a couple of goals, while Steven Ord finished the off the hosts.

Park View silenced The Carpets Centre Elite with a brilliant 8-2 victory to advance into the semi-finals of Billy Pemberton Memorial Cup.

Plaudits go to Park View’s Jordan Southern after he smashed in five goals to see off the Elite.

Fairs and Anderson responded for the Carpetmen, but further goals from Peverley, Benson and Robinson made sure of the win.

AshbrookeR­osedeneloo­k favourites to lift the cup after their convincing 4-1 over The Grange.

An inspired Jordan Ridley display saw him find the net, ably backed up with two goals from Brown and a Hope-Hindmarsh strike.

Hughill managed to score for the Grange, but it wasn’t enough.

Ryhope advanced to the next round after winning the penalty shootout against Penshaw.

The game ended 3-3, with Ryhope’s goals coming from Mutimer and Middlebroo­k (2).

Penshaw had Lendhaw, Preistman and Snelling on target, but Ryhope won the spot kicks 8-7.

New Town have their name in the hat of the next round in the Total Sport Challenge Trophy after a 3-2 win over Washington Athletic.

The Premier League team struggled to get past Athletic, but took the win courtesy of goals from Thompson, Cairns and Salicki.

Athletic responded through strikes from Docherty and Wilson.
