CHRIS URGES RYHOPE CW TO BUILD ON DRAW AT SHILDON

-

Chris McCabe has challenged Ryhope CW to build on their impressive draw at West Auckland Town when they travel to Shildon tomorrow.

The point gained at the Wanted Stadium kept Ryhope in 11th place in the Northern League Division One table, although they could have taken maximum points.

Goals from Chris Wallace and Robbie Bird looked to have put them on their way to a valuable three points, but late strikes from Amar Purewal and Tom Portas ensured that the spoils were shared.

McCabe was heartened by the display and believes that the squad should be in a positive frame of mind when they travel to Dean Street.

He said: “We are looking to take the positives from what was a team performance at West Auckland last Saturday.

“We cannot fault the attitude and commitment of every single player as we look to build on a good point gained.

“We will be going to Shildon full of confidence.

“We’ve got a great squad here, but we need to start kicking on and pushing up the league now.”

Young striker Jack Devlin is suspended after he was shown a red card in the draw at West Auckland and Ryhope have doubts over Corey Nicholson and James Ellis.

First meets third in Division One tomorrow as leaders Consett host Bishop Auckland at Belle View. The visitors will be looking for a second big win in as many weeks after they became the first side to beat Dunston UTS in the league this season.

They face a tough test against a Consett side that will be at full strength after midfielder Dan Hawkins returned from a serious knee injury.

Two-Blues manager Ian Chandler is boosted by the return from suspension of midfielder Lewis Gibbons.

Dunston will hope to bounce back from that home defeat against Bishops by taking all three points from their trip to Whitley Bay.

Midfielder Jake Stafford misses out for Dunston as he serves the second game of a three-match suspension.

Fourth-placed North Shields are targeting a fifth consecutive league win when they head to Woodhorn Lane to face Ashington.

Their hosts have Aidan Hutchinson available once again after he recovered from a knee injury and Colliers manager Steve Bowey will hand late fitness tests to Chris Youldon and Gerard Richardson.

Stockton Town are without the suspended James Risbrough for their trip to Newton Aycliffe.

A win for the Anchors could see them end the weekend in the top six of the Division One table.

Fifteenth-placed Guisborough Town will be without three key players for their home game against bottom-of-the-table Penrith.

A concussion has ruled out on-loan Middlesbrough defender Nathan Guru and manager Gary Forster will also be without long-term injury victims Dylan Thomas and Donny Holdsworth.
