Northern League Division Two

-

Durham City assistant manager Stephen Durrant has confirmed that the Citizens are hoping to add more faces to their squad.

The Citizens are currently anchored to the bottom of the Northern League Division Two table and are six points behind their nearest rivals Brandon United.

They face a tough test as they bid for a first win in 14 games when they travel to promotion-challenging Northallerton Town tomorrow.

Durrant admitted that the game will be a severe test of the changes being made to the club’s playing staff.

He said: “We are continuing to rebuild the squad and we are looking to embed players into the team as quickly as possible.

“But we recognise that we must target results from the remaining fixtures.

“We will be announcing more signings shortly and the game at Northallerton is a challenging test of how far we are on our journey of rebuilding the squad.”

Easington Colliery will be hoping to end the weekend in the top 10 of the table by securing a home win against Birtley Town.

The Colliers added former Shildon and West Auckland Town coach Stuart Niven to their backroom staff this week and jointmanager Craig Hughes is looking forward to a home game after a run of away fixtures.

He said: “We played well in the second half at Ryton last weekend and we’ll be looking to build on that against Birtley Town.

“Playing a home game after all these away games will be nice too.”

Daryll Hall could make his debut after joining the Colliers and David Vincent returns after suspension.

Washington will begin life without Jason Jones when they travel to promotion-chasing Thornaby.

Jones was sacked by the Mechanics last weekend, meaning that the club are now looking for their third manager of the season.

Chester-le-Street Town go looking for a fourth win in five league games when they travel to Esh Winning.

Division Two leaders Billingham Town are heavy favourites to stretch their unbeaten run to 24 league games when they welcome struggling Brandon United to Bedford Terrace.

The visitors have won just once on the road this season and face a Town side that are currently 10 points clear at the top of the table.

The Town management have some decisions to make as Kris Summers, Dan Flounders and Luke Hogan are all suspended.

Neighbours Billingham Synthonia can move into close contention with the division’s top eight with a win at Crook Town.

Nico Weatherald is in contention for a starting place after returning from a five-match suspension when he was named as a substitute for last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Redcar Athletic.

New signings Tom Bailey and Guilherme Baltazar will be in the Jarrow FC squad for their trip to Heaton Stannington.

Two sides looking to challenge for a top-eight spot in the second half of the season meet at Druid Park as West Allotment Celtic host Bedlington Terriers, and Tow Law Town hope to make it three games unbeaten when they entertain Ryton & Crawcrook Albion.

Sam Webster will be in the Redcar Athletic squad for their trip to Willington after re-joining the club from Guisborough Town.
