Collisions left drivers facing delays at rush hour

Drivers faced delays after two collision son busy routes at rush hour.

The emergency services were called to three-vehicle crash on a busy Sunderland road shortly after 3pm yesterday on the eastbound side of the A1231 Sunderland Highway close to Vantec.

The incident left one lane blocked until after 4pm causing congestion in the area.

Traffic heading through Front Street, in Fence Houses, also faced tailbacks when a van and bus collided between the junctions of Sedgeletch Road and High Dubmire.

It also left one lane blocked until the vehicles and debris were cleared from the scene.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm and also caused disruption to traffic.
