Lollipop lady who had her ‘pupil army’

-

Pupil power is hitting Sunderland in a big way.

A flood of letters from 32 pupils of Class 12 at Fulwell Junior school came after a classroom discussion on things that bothered them about their area.

On traffic problems, Ashleigh Downey said: “Our lollipop lady risks her life every time she helps us cross the road and it is not fair. She is a really nice lady and her job is made really difficult by all the lorries and cars that are parked in her way. I think there should be a zebra crossing put in Sea Road to make it easier to cross over.” David Vint said: “Our lollipop lady has nearly been knocked down six times. She does her job to keep us safe and I think the council should put in an island or something like that to make it easier to cross the road.”
