Northern League Division Two

-

Chester-le-Street Town manager Colin Wake is focused on the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup Final, despite having 10 league games left to play this season.

The Cestrians boss believes that the Football Association’s decision to only promote one side automatically from Division Two means that he can use the remaining league games to utilise his entire squad in preparation for their cup final against Northallerton Town.

That process will begin with tomorrow’s home game against in-form Crook Town.

Wake said: “We have 10 league games left, we have a cup final to look forward to and we will be looking to get right for that.

“The way the league situation is, with there being only one going up for definite, that’s done and dusted now.

“Let’s consolidate where we are.

“We will take that into Saturday and possibly give some lads some game-time and give the squad a bit of a run out.”

Durham City have announced that their home game against Billingham Synthonia has been postponed.

The decision was made as a mark of respect to the Citizens’ landlords Willington, who are awaiting news on the health of chairman Richard Treweman after he took ill during the midweek game at Chester-le-Street Town.

Washington will hope to bounce back from last weekend’s home defeat against neighbours Birtley Town when they travel to Perth Green to face Jarrow

FC. Easington Colliery could have three key figures back in their squad for their game at Esh Winning. Brennan Ball has completed a suspension and both Jake Metcalf and James Talbot could return for the game at West Terrace. Division Two leaders Billingham Town will look for a first win in three games when they entertain Tow Law Town and fellow title challengers Thornaby will travel to face a full-strength West Allotment Celtic.

Redcar Athletic go looking for a fifth consecutive win when struggling Brandon United visit Green Lane.

Northallerton Town have injury doubts over Kieran McWaters, Karl Hewitt and Andy Shepherd ahead of their home game against fellow top-four contenders Heaton Stannington.

Birtley Town can continue their upturn in form by securing a fourth league win in a row when Ryton and Crawcrook Albion visit the Robinson Heating and Plumbing Stadium.
