Northern League Division Two

-

Easington Colliery jointmanager Kevin Devine has hailed the impact of new signings Niall McGoldrick and Josh Home-Jackson.

The Colliers host West Allotment Celtic tomorrow and they go into the game on the back of an impressive 2-0 win at Willington in midweek.

Both new signings have found the net in recent weeks and Home-Jackson has made an impressive start to life with the club after scoring five goals in his first four appearances.

Devine is hopeful that their form can help the club secure a place in the top ten of the Division Two table.

He said: “We’ve found some form again recently and it’s very pleasing to see after our very difficult period.

“The win over Willington showed what quality we have in this squad. West Allotment will be another hard game, but there’s no reason we can’t get another three points with the way we’re playing at the minute.

“We’ve looked a different team since Niall (McGoldrick) and Josh (Home-Jackson) came in and they’ve both been superb.

“I’m definitely looking for another good result against West Allotment and we&’ll hopefully be back in the top 10 soon.”

Chris Pearson will return to the Colliers squad for the game, but both Garon Garside and Ryan Lincoln Barrow will undergo late fitness tests.

Durham City will have to produce one of their performances of the season as they look for only their fourth win of the campaign when they travel to promotion-chasing Thornaby.

The Division Two weekend gets under way tonight when Crook Town face Tow Law Town and Redcar Athletic travel to Northallerton Town.

League leaders Billingham Town face a tough test of their title credentials when they face a trip to topfive challengers Heaton Stannington tomorrow.

Midfielder Craig Marron will miss Chester-le-Street Town’s visit to Willington as he serves a suspension.

Jarrow FC goalkeeper Jak Wells will return to their squad for the home game against Bedlington Terriers after missing last weekend’s 4-0 win against Brandon United.

Jarrow joint-manager Dave Bell said: “We know Bedlington will be up for the game and have four games in hand on us, so will be looking to close the points gap.

“We only have six games left now for this season and we have a big desire to finish on as many points as we can as we look to demonstrate our progress from last season.”

Billingham Synthonia are without suspended duo Dominic O’Connor and Tom Bligh as they travel to struggling Brandon United.

Esh Winning will hope to stretch their unbeaten run to four games when they host Birtley Town.
