KULASEKARA AND SHAHID SEAL DERBY TRIUMPH

League leaders Easington hosted Horden and recorded a comfortabl­e seven-wicket win.

The visitors scored 119 all out, as Omar Shahid (3-29) and Kavindu Kulasekara (428) bowled well.

However, they did lose early wickets, until David Tarn smashed 81 not out to guide his side to a score of 123-3.

Marsden are in second place,threepoint­sbehindthe leaders, following a narrow three-run home win against Littletown.

They scored 209 all out, as Nisal Francisco scored 72 and Scott Oliver added 39, while Patrick Stephenson claimed an impressive 6-37 and Paul Cassell returned 3-62.

In reply, the visitors started well with an opening partnershi­p of 81, between Gregg Arundel (35) and Matt Dench (61), before Chris Mann got them both out. However, Dan Pearson was batting well (67not out) and it was not until James Sneller claimed a match-winning 5-32 from seven overs, that they came up just short on 206 all out.

Tudhoe entertaine­d Esh Winning and racked up a healthy 214-3, thanks to an excellent century from Daniel Thexton.

His ton (103no) came off 120 balls, which included eight fours and two sixes, while Ramesh Mendis added 89 from 77 balls, as they put on 189 runs for the third wicket.

Esh had Khasif Naveed to thank for his 64 runs, which enabled them to claim the draw on 154-8, despite 3-35 from James Curry.

Philadelph­ia travelled to Ushaw Moor and scored 1827, thanks to Shaun Smith who made 74 runs.

Ushaw then batted poorly, as they were all out for just 97, as Nimesh Vimukthi claimed 3-12 and Stevie Wright 3-26, to win the game by 85 runs.

Durham City drew their game at home to Whiteleas. City totalled 150 all out, with Ed Pope top scoring with 35 as Chris Nicholl claimed an excellent 5-23.

In reply, Leas managed 118-4, with Owen Peterson scoring 41 not out, to claim the draw.

The game between Bill Quay and Seaham Park, was lost to the weather.

Division Two leaders Dawdon had a comfortabl­e win over Ryhope to make it four wins from four games.

The visitors batted first and only made 60 all out, as Mark Ewart (3-32), David Coates (4-13) and Faz Hussain (3-9), destroyed their batting.

Skipper Steven Gale then smashed 46 not out, as they reached 61-0, to win by ten wickets.

Hylton remain second after winning by six wickets at Evenwood. The home side made 141-8. Muhammad Yasin top scored with 39 as Anthony Brown and Adam Crooks claimed two wickets apiece.

The visitors then had Marlon Black to thank, as he scored 59 not out, to guide his team to victory on 145-4.

Brandon are third after racking up an impressive 211-2, as they hosted Langley Park & Bear Park.

Openers Matthew Brown (74) and Liam Reid (59), put on 123 for the first wicket then Gordon Muchall added 48 not out.

Langley really struggled from the off and not one batsmen made it to double figures, as Liam Wilson with 5-16 ripped them open, and they were all out for just 35 runs.

Boldon CA are in fourth place, following an impressive 112 run win at Kimbleswor­th.

They totalled 222-9, thanks to Rob O’Brien making 62, Alex Thomas 34, Owen Lancaster 33, and Sam Sanderson 38 not out, while Patrick Savarimuth­u returned bowling figures of 3-51.

The home side never really got going, against some tight bowling from Rajan Kumarasamy (2-31) and Sam Sanderson (3-20) and were all out for 106.

Silksworth are now fifth and made it back-to-back wins, as they beat Peterlee at home.

They batted first and were in trouble early on, as Yuravaj Vijay claimed 3-8 and Andrew Laidler 3-27.

Nicky Wightman made 19 and William Bailey a crucial 11 not out in the context of the game, totalling 87 all out.

In reply, Peterlee could not contain the opening bowling attack, as Wightman with the ball returned a brilliant 6-21 and Robbie Jones claimed 4-27, as they were bowled out for just 56 runs.

Hunwick journeyed to Mainsforth, who made 1279. Ryan Dawson, with 58 not out, was the star with the bat as Dan Keegan claimed 4-23 with the ball.

The visitors then also struggled, however Chris Smith with 48 runs saved the day, despite Ryan Nicholson returning 3-21 with the ball, as they finished on 120-9.
