Roadshows aiming to give residents healthy lifestyle

give local residents the right support to help them stay healthy and well.

Organisers said there are lots of things people can do to support their own health and wellbeing and the Better Health Roadshows will be out and about across the area to share tips and informatio­n.

The CCG are inviting people to attend any of the free, fun family roadshows, where there will be a range of activities that everyone can benefit from.

These include CPR demonstrat­ions and community defibrilla­tor training from the North East Ambulance Service; exercise demonstrat­ions by Everyone Active, showing you ways to easily incorporat­e stretches and exercises into everyday life; find out more about what’s really in the food you and your family eat, with Change4Lif­e Sunderland; learn how pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension; learn how mindfulnes­s can improve your mental wellbeing; discover how massage is not just an indulgence, but good for physical and mental wellbeing; and free health checks, including weight, height and BMI calculatio­ns

Debbie Burnicle, NHS Sunderland’s CCG lay member for patient and public involvemen­t, said: “It’s our role to help everyone in Sunderland achieve better health.

“The Better Health Roadshow will give local people informatio­n, tips and advice to stay healthy and well.”

The free events will be running at the following locations between 10am and 3pm.

October 26: Tesco, Roker Retail Park, Newcastle Road, Sunderland; November 2: Bede Tower, Burdon Road, Sunderland; November 9: Houghton Sports and Wellness Centre, Houghtonle-Spring; November 16: Arts Centre Washington, Biddick Lane, Washington; November 23: City Centre, Park Lane, Sunderland.
