The sound of brass at Christmas at Durham Miners Association
A traditional festive brass band concert returns the historic home of the Durham Miners Association (DMA) this Christmas.
For many years, the Christmas concert at Redhills, Durham Miners Hall was a highlight of the festive season for Durham Miners Association members and their families.
Last year, the muchloved festive tradition was revived – and opened to the public for the first time. It returns this year on Saturday, December 7 and all are welcome to enjoy a performance from the DMA Brass Band in the magnificent setting of The Pitman’s Parliament.
Alan Mardghum, Secretary of the DMA, said: “After the success of last year’s event, we are delighted that the concert is returning to Redhills this Christmas.
“The concert was a muchloved tradition among our members and their families, and we hope to establish this event as a highlight of the season for the wider community.
“We look forward to welcoming the public into our home this Christmas for an evening of music with our wonderful brass band.”
Proceeds will go to The Redhills Appeal – the DMA campaign to renew Durham MinersHallasacentreforculture, heritage and education.
Doors will open at 6.30pm, with the performance beginning at 7pm. Mince pies and hot drinks will be served.
