Liddle looking for reaction after tough lesson at leaders
Sunderland West End jointmanager Darren Liddle is hoping that his side have learned lessons from their 8-2 defeat at Northern League Division Two leaders West Allotment Celtic last weekend.
The defeat at Druid Park sawWestEndslipto14thplace inthetable–andtheywilllook to bounce back when they entertain Billingham Synthonia on Saturday.
WestEndactuallyclaimed their first point as a Northern League club in the reverse fixture when a Brad Forster goal helped them to a 1-1 draw at NortonSportsComplexinthe first week of the season
Both sides have improved significantly since that August night – and Liddle is hoping that his side can continue their push for a top-half by showing that last weekend’s defeat against the leaders is firmly behind them.
He said: “I don’t expect them (Billingham Synthonia) to be as good as West Allotmentwere.Wehadaheart-toheart after the game up there and it was an open and honest chat between us all.
“Wewereinthegameuntil justbeforehalf-timeandthere were positives to take despite the result.
“We have to build on that against a side that have given us one of our hardest games of the season.
“Theywereinexperienced back then and they have added some more experienced players – which is something I think we need to look at too.Butwearegoingtogiveita coupleofweekswhenitcomes to adding to the squad and see how it goes.”
West End are without the suspended Andrew Brown and goalkeeper Neal Bussey remains unavailable with a leg injury.
