Watmore’s incredible gesture to Soup Kitchen
Duncan Watmore and his family have donated £1,000 to Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen – after fans of the Black Cats banded together to raise over £6,000 for those in need this Christmas.
A GoFundMe page, started by supporters’ website Roker Report,encouragedpeopletodonate ahead of the festive season – with aninitialtargetof£2,000set,tobe split between Sunderland CommunitySoupKitchenandtheSunderland Foodbank.
But that target was quickly surpassed, with Sunderland fans coming out in their droves to donate to the worthy cause.
And as of the morning on Wednesday, December 5, over £6,300hadbeenraisedforthetwo organisationsasover320supporters pledged donations.
Inadditiontothestunningfigure raised by the fans, Watmore andhisfamilyhavedonatedanadditional£1,000tothesoupkitchen as they bid to do their bit over the Christmas period.
Confirmingtheirstunninggesture, a tweet from Roker Report said: “Thank you to the Watmore family, who have donated £1000 which will go straight to the Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen rather than to our GoFundMe page. What a superb gesture. This money will change lives.”
Sunderland Foodbank also offered their thanks to supporters, while admitting they were ‘blown away’ by the level of donations.
“We're blown away by everyone's kindness and generosity,” theytweeted.“Thankyousomuch to everyone who donated. You're helping to make a massive differencetohelplocalpeopleincrisis.”

Judge Catherine Addy was told that Macclesfield bosses owed a "very large" amount of tax and owed Campbell more than £180k.
