The number of Sunderland secondary schools rated good or outstanding has fallen. Caroline Harrison:

Because too many schools are not getting the funding they need to have more staff so the staff to pupil ratio is too high.

Sue Douthwaite:

In senior school too many in isolation too many times and too long for silly little things so they don’t get the education anyway.

Derrick Johnson:

But too many are in there as an easy option for teachers with a lack of authority.

Elaine Johnson:

Since they all went to academies.

Alison Burnell:

An academy receives their funding directly from the government – rather than filtered through a local authority like a “traditional” state funded school. This means that an academy is directly accountable to the Department for Education.

Kirsty Dickson:

School is worthless after primary school age. I home school my daughter.

Craig Richardson Wood:

Got nothing to with rising poverty levels, severe underfunding and a system that compares schools nationwide, regardless of socioeconomic situation. Blame the teachers, not the source. It is the way. David Vass:

Big problem... primary education is a shambles too... but the lack of discipline simply feeds the lack of respect where many bright pupils give up. Teachers want top dollar though and all their perks. Any other type of business would be firing staff and re-recruiting. And let's make it a mainstream profession not a left wing one.

STORY:

Catch 22, the new chippie in Seaburn.

Bev Smurthwaite:

Been today, had the chicken and a prawn Taco, absolutely beautifu,l cooked in front of you nipping clean 2 for £10 couldn’t eat it all would recommend to everyone will definitely be going back staff really friendly xx

Karen Auty:
