West End need to be clinical to beat Jarrow, says boss Liddle

-

Sunderland West End manager Darren Liddle wants his side to be more prolific as they look to return to winning ways against old foes Jarrow in the second division of the Northern League.

The two sides will meet for the fourth time this season at Nissan Sports Complex on Saturday and West End are yet to beat their former Wearside League rivals.

Jarrow claimed all three points with a 4-1 win in the league meeting between the two sides back in August and edged through in a penalty shoot-out in a Ernest Amrstrong Memorial Cup tie two weeks later.

And the two sides could not be separated in a Mitre Sports Brooks Mileson League Cup tie on South Tyneside in late September.

West End boss Liddle urged his players to focus on themselves as they look to claim a first win of the season against Dave Bell’s side.

“It’s always a tight game against Jarrow and they play the same style of football that we play,” he said.

“It’s the fourth time that we have played them this season, so we know a lot about each other.

“We came through the Wearside League with each other and it’s always an entertaining game.

“We will just concentrate on ourselves; we have a few things in place and we just need to start taking our chances.

“If we can do that, I am sure that more wins will come very soon.”

West End will be boosted by the news that Adam Drysdale is available once again after completing a suspension.

Second placed Redcar Athletic have confirmed the return of former striker Adam Preston ahead of their home game against Chesterle-Street

Town.

Crook Town will look to enhance their own promotion credentials when

they visit Easington Colliery.

Washington will be targeting a first win in any competition since mid-September when they entertain Tow Law Town.

The Mechanics have lost 18 of their 19 fixtures since a 6-4 home win against Willington. Kick-off at New Ferens Park is at 2pm.

Durham City will be without the suspended Callum Banki when they host Newcastle University.
