Sing away any winter blues with Unity Choir

-

A mixed voice community choir is starting the year with a series of drop-in taster sessions.

Anyone interested in having a go can come along to the Unity Choir Winter Warmers at The Hetton Centre either as a one-off or each week for the next few weeks.

No commitment is required – you do not need to join the choir to take part and you can pay on the door for each session.

The sessions will be led by Rebecca McGarvie (The Singing Elf ) who will be teaching a wide range of feel-good music such as pop, gospel, musical theatre and world music to warm the mind, body and soul.

Unity Choir welcomes singers of all abilities, including complete beginners.

You do not need any previous experience, there is no audition, you do not need to read music and you will not be asked to sing on your own.

Rebecca said: “We all know that starting something new can be a little scary, but it’s also exciting.”

“At Unity, we make that extra effort to help everyone feel welcome – even people who aren’t even sure they can sing are encouraged to come along.

“We will help you find your voice in our weekly sessions that promise laughter, escapism and friendship.”

The Winter Warmers run from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday evenings until February 11, after which everyone will have the chance to take part in Unity’s spring term activities if they wish.

People can find out more information and also reserve their place online at www. thesingingelf.co.uk or by calling 0191 3721682, or simply come along on the evenings and pay on the door.

Sessions cost £5 per week.
