West End lacking cutting edge – Liddle

-

Sunderland West End manager Darren Liddle was a frustrated figure after his side fell to a narrow home defeat against Jarrow FC.

WestEndhavefailedtobeat their former Wearside League rivals in their previous three meetings this season and that run was stretched to four on Saturday as Liam McBryde grabbed the only goal of the game 10 minutes before halftime.

Despite the defeat, Liddle was still able to take the positives from the game – but admitted that he is frustrated by his side’s failure to take the chances they create.

He told The Echo: “There were positives because we havedefendedwellandalways stayed in the game.

“If you spoke to any neutrals, they would say we were thebetterteamandwecreated chances. We just couldn’t get the goal that we needed.

“We have three games ahead of us where we play Birtley Town, Tow Law Town and Brandon United and we think we can take points from all three games. But we have to start taking our chances.”

West Allotment Celtic maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the Division Two table as Shane Jones grabbed a brace and Shane Donaghey also scored in their 3-2 win at Billingham Synthonia.

Chris Dickinson and Matthew Wilson scored for the hosts – but Allotment won thanks to a late winner from Donaghey.

Washington couldn’t end their awful run of form after they fell to a 3-1 home defeat against Tow Law Town. Kurtis Russell, Matty Moffat and Jason White had all found the netfortheLawyersbythetime Lewis McGeoch had grabbed a consolation for their hosts.
