Genge hopes to force his way into Jones' plans

-

England prop Ellis Genge knows sulking will not help him force his way into Eddie Jones' Guinness Six Nations plans.

Genge is behind Mako Vunipola and Joe Marler in the loosehead pecking order and is unlikely to feature in the Championshipopeneragainst France in Paris on Sunday.

"Ihavedoneitallintermsof speaking to him. If I had to give advicetothenewboysitwould be if you don't get picked, don't throw your toys out of the cot. Don't sulk," he said.

"No one has ever been picked off the back of sulking, at least as far as I am aware anyway. Otherwise I would start sulking!

"Youhavetokeepyourhead downandkeepworking.Eddie is a fair man - if he thinks you should play you will play. He doesn't hold grudges.

"You have got to have some tough conversations with him if you don't agree but he puts everything on the table. He doesn't work in the shadows.

"He is on the front foot about a lot of stuff which is good, it makes you better. I am going to keep training as hard as I can."

WalesattackcoachStephen Jones has issued a positive fitness bulletin ahead of Saturday's Guinness Six Nations opener against Italy.

Wales last week lost wing Owen Lane from their plans due to a hamstring injury, and hookerElliotDeehashadalimited role in the build-up to facingtheAzzurri."OwenWatkin trained with us this morning, so he is doing very well," Jones said. "Today was his first session, and he is working hard with the physios. We are doing well on the health front."
