Father jailed for attacks on women

-

A man who attacked the mother of his child in her own home has been jailed.

Christopher Quinn, 29, assaulted his former partner before attacking another woman at a takeaway just over two weeks later.

Newcastle Crown Court heard his young daughter was asleep in another room during the attack.

Mark Giuliani, prosecuting said the victim managed to get to her phone to contact the police in the early hours of November 28.

He said: "(It was) recorded as whispering down the phone, "police, please, straight away, Christopher Quinn is here.""

Mr Giuliani said police noted she was, "crying, shaking, clearly upset."

He added: "Injuries noted by police officers to her forehead, bruises, cuts to her hand."

She told police that he has bitten her, breaking skin after kicking her as she lay on the floor.

The court heard that Quinn had been drinking and started arguing about her having gone out on a work do. The woman did not give a victim impact statement and said she did not want to get involved with court proceedings.

On December 15, Quinn attacked a woman at the Grill House takeaway in Washington. During an altercation involving a group, Quinn punched the victim, resulting in her getting a black eye.

In her victim impact statement she said she was shocked to have been assaulted and that it has had serious psychological effect on her.

Quinn, of Aintree Close, Washington, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. He was jailed for 32 months.
