New traders starting to STACK up

A taco stall and a healthy Thai food vendor are the latest traders announced for Seaburn’s STACK container village.

The £2.5million leisure developmen­t is rapidly taking shape on Sunderland’s seafront and the latest swath of vendors have been announced ahead of its opening in Spring.

They include family-run Mexican street food vendor, Chapos Tacos.

Owned by the BritishMex­ican Chapman family, the Mexican container will bring healthy, fresh, family recipes to Seaburn, made by profession­al chefs who have appeared on some of Mexico’ s most popular television shows.

Gabriella Chapman, coowner of Chapos Tacos, who lives in Sunderland, said: “Our aim is to give the North of England the great Mexican street food experience.

“I am originally from Mexico City, which is dubbed the ‘capital of street food tacos.’

“My family in Mexico have profession­al qualificat­ions in Mexican gastronomy and have reached the semi-finals on a popular cooking TV programme which is broadcast nationwide in Mexico. All of our recipes here at Chapos Tacos have been passed down through our families.”

Joining Cha po sis health conscious Thai street food vendor, Healthy Th aim.

The healthy food establishm­ent,owned by Natalie Brand, has a base in Thorney Close, but is expanding to STACK to meet demand.

Offering Thai food with a healthy twist, Healthy Thaim has received a wealth of support from Slimming World followers, with their menu offeringdi­shes that are zerosyns, as well as offering a tailored meal preparatio­n service.

Café YOLO is also joining the line-up and will be offering premium coffee. It’s aiming to become a popular brunch spot, offering breakfasts, lunches, pancakes and baked goods.

Café YO LO will, like there st of the site, be dog friendly and be open from early morning daily.

Neill Winch, CEO of The Danieli Group, which owns STACK, said: “We are really pleased to be welcoming on board more businesses which are offering visitors the chance to eat authentic cuisine from across the world.

“We now only have a couple of street food units available to fill and by the time we open there will be a really wide choice of street food options to please everyone including vegans, vegetarian­s and the healthy conscious eaters.”
