“I was happy to get that second goal and it was a relief for myself.It’sagreatthreepoints.”

However, Red Star would not be denied, and youngster Jayden Cahill-Taylor grabbed a winner eight minutes from time.

Sunderland West End manager Darren Liddle wants his side to find their shooting boots after their goalless draw against Tow Law Town in Division Two.

The two sides went into the game in contrasting form with the Lawyers arriving at Nissan Sports Ground on the back of a nine-game unbeaten run.

West End were looking for a first win since a 3-1 triumph against Bedlington Terriers in mid-January and a first goal since Lewis Lynn grabbed the final goal in the same game.

A win and a goal continued to evade Liddle’s side on Saturday, but they did claim a point against a Tow Law side that have a chance of gate-crashing the promotion places over the coming weeks.

After the game Liddle said: “We were excellent, and I can’t really think of many chances that Tow Law had with what I think was a full-strength side.

“We were very good defensively and it’s about getting things right on the attack for us now.

“We created a couple of half-chances, but it’s not just the forwards that have to take that responsibility.

“The whole team has to becausetheyallcancreatechances and score goals.

“So hopefully we can work together to improve in the aspect of the game.”
