Warriner goal proves decisive for Mechanics

-

Washington ended their horrendous run of form as Jack Warriner grabbed the only goal of the game in their win at Willington.

That marked the Mechanics first win in any competition since September – and that came with a 6-4 home win against the same opposition.

Easington Colliery and Esh Winning shared the points with a 2-2 draw at Welfare Park. The visitors went ahead on two occasions as Alex Goundry and Nick Marley found the net but equalisers from Jack Pounder and Simon Todd ensured that the spoils were shared.

West Allotment Celtic are still eight points clear at the top of the table after they romped to a big win at Chester-le-Street Town. Matthew Hayton bagged a hat-trick, Dean Walker scored twice and there was a goal apiece for Shane Jones and Abu Salim as Allotment claimed a 7-0 win at Moor Park.

Adam Preston scored twice as Redcar Athletic maintained their own push for promotion with a 4-0 home win against Bedlington Terriers.

Lee Bythway and Connor Smith were also on target for the Teesside outfit.

Crook Town’s impressive form continued as Daniel Maddison scored twice and Christian Holliday and Dane Eltringham were also on target in their side’s 4-0 home win against bottom of the table Durham City.

Ryton and Crawcrook Albion held on to fourth place despite falling to a home defeat against Jarrow. Two early goals from Glen Hargrave put the visitors in control and they held on for a win despite Callum Turnbull halving the deficit just before half-time.
