Blue Bell remain in danger after United loss

Washington Blue Bell are still in trouble at the foot of the Third Division, sponsored by DST Shutters.

Blue Bell were unable to trouble counterpar­ts Washington United, who cruised to a 7-2 win.

Christie led the way with an excellent hat-trick for the hosts while Woodley, Atkinson and a brace from star man Jack Ramsden sealed the points.

The Blues found the net through an Adam Smith brace.

Grindon Broadway produced the shock result of the weekend in the Third Division when they comfortabl­y beat league leaders AFC Houghton 4-2.

Ogunsuyi and Wadey scored for Houghton but it was Grindon’s day following a double from Williams and goals from Clinton and Johnson.

Velocity grabbed only their second league win of the season with a 5-3 success against bottom of the league Park View, who still have only one victory to their name so far.

Theo Weiss completed a hat-trick and Crawley and Blakeman hit the target for Velocity while Jackson scored two and Conley hit the third for View.

In the Fourth Division, sponsored by Colin Archbold Painters and Decorators, Washington North End fought back from two goals down to eventually see-off Whitburn SC 3-2.

Harris, White and Francis turned the game on its head after Wyatt and Chalk had registered for Whitburn.

The Doxy Lad raced into second place in the Fourth Division Subsiduary League with an emphatic 13-2 win over Oddies United.

Oddies had Ganley on target twice but his goals were to be in vain as the floodgates soon opened.

Brooke led the rout with four, McAnaney added a hattrick and Gilbert, Hutchinson, Harrison and Robertson all contribute­d to the Doxy Lad’s considerab­le tally.

Stella United soared to the top of the Subsiduary league courtesy of a comfortabl­e 5-2 over Washington The Bird.

Super sub Mitchinson scored twice for United who also had McCulloch, Hood and Turnbull on target while the Bird hit two late goals in consolatio­n.
