Near million pound cost of fly-tippping is revealed in Sunderland

Allen Laidler: Here in Leeds metal good like that go out on the pavement and travellers pick it up and take it away within the hour.

Amy Johnson: No exuse 4 this at all but ask yourself why this is now happening more? That millions could be used for weekly bin collection the queue at the tip is 2 mile long some days. Cuts mean things go wrong.

Janine Jennie Crawford: When you do report it it isn't cleaned up properly . Three times I've reported fly tipping in the same area the same rubbish still sits there !

Colin Cook: Well Sunderland Council should scrap the rubbish pick up rules instead of charging people who already pay council tax

Lynn Elliott: The council is having to spend money to clear up from people who are breaking the law. The council does not have a magic money tree.

Treena Cooke: I'm sure it would cost less to go back to weekly collections than have to pay the council to keep taking away fly tipping?

Tony Prescott: Oh will people please be quiet about weekly collections. Sunderland were one of the last areas in the NE to do this and everyone else copes.
