Have a smashing time at the egg roll
Families can roll up and take part in Penshaw Bowl as online registrations are now open for the 2020 annual event.
Taking place from noon until 4pm on Thursday, April 9, in Herrington Country Park, the event will include a traditional egg rolling competition, Active Sunderland sports festival, a craft and food market and children's activities.
The free eggrolling competition is open to children aged nine and under, and will be split into two time slots, 1pm and 2.30pm.
Children taking part in the egg roll must bring a hard-boiled egg that has been decorated and is clearly marked with their name and age.
There are limited places available for each age category so early registration is recommended.
Alongside the egg roll, there will be fun for the whole family as an Active Sunderland sports festival takes place from 12pm4pm. The festival, which is £2 per person, allows visitors to take part in a number of sports and physical activities throughout the afternoon.
Cabinet member for Communities and Culture, Coun John Kelly, said: "Penshaw Bowl is always a great event to get involved with. Lots of children turn out every year for this community Easter tradition, so it is important to register to ensure your child has a space.
"There's so much for all the family to do, we hope even more people can come and join us this year."
