Peugeot offers new car buyers six months’ free charging

Peugeot is offering buyers of any of its new electric or plugin hybrids six months of free public charging.

The deal, being run in conjunction with the Polar network, coincides with the launch of Peugeot’s hybrid range – which includes the 3008 SUV, 508 and 508 SW – and the arrival of the all-new, all-electric e-208 arriving in showrooms. The upcoming fully electric e-2008 SUV is also now available to order and will qualify for the offer.

Via the Polar Plus subscription, a majority of public charging points on the Polar network will be free to use for Peugeot drivers for six months. For those posts which are chargeable, drivers pay for the electricity used on a per kWh basis; with prices starting from 12p per kWh. Drivers will be given an RFID card or key fob to access the network.

In addition to 7kW AC charging points on streets and in car parks nationwide,

Polar Plus is rolling out 150kW DC rapid chargers compatible with Peugeot’s battery electric vehicles, allowing an 0-80 per cent charge in just 30 minutes.

The announcement coincides with a major more towards electrification by the French firm.

The 3008 and 508 hybrids are already on sale, with the all-electric 208 and e-208 imminent.

The 3008 hybrid comes in two- and four-wheel drive versions, with the Hybrid4 all-wheel-drive offering and 296bhp plug-in drivetrain capable of 0-62mph in just 5.9 seconds, with an all electric range of up to 40 miles.

Two-wheel-drive versions of the 3008 use the same petrol/electric drivetrain as the 508 and 508SW hybrids, with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a single electric motor on the front axle offering combined power of 222bhp and 39 miles of EV range.

The all-new e-208 features a 50kWh battery and a 136hp electric motor, and is capable of up to 217 miles of zeroemissions driving from a full charge.

The all-new e-2008 uses the same battery/motor setup and has a range of 206 miles from a full charge under WLTP testing.
