Supporters hail masterstroke and start daring to dream

-

Sunderland fans have been quick to react to their side’s 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers – with plenty of praise for manager Phil Parkinson.

The Black Cats were made to work for their three points against the Gas.

But supporters were quick to hail Parkinson’s decision to remain on the offensive after Lynden Gooch netted the opener – allowing Charlie Wyke and Luke O’Nien to extend the margin of victory.

Here’s what fans were saying on social media after the triumph:

@DanMeister1234 said: “Last season, this would’ve been a 1-1. But we’ve dominated the game and immediately after scoring, we’ve kept the pressure up and got a second”

@JacobKirkbride added: “Been lacklustre in the final third this game up until now 2 inamatterofminutesbrilliant pass and move for goochys then big Charlie one on one withthekeeperroundshimto put it into an empty net game game set match was hoping he’d try a deadly chip though”

@Philip_RJ89 commented: “This is what teams with aspirations of promotion do. They persist, they never give up, and they keep hammering away until the door opens. We’ve done that and got the rewards. Excellent mentality”

@JordanBray19 joked: “Never thought I'd see the day Charlie Wyke takes the ball round a keeper to slot it home for two”

@TheWearside tweeted: “2-0 much needed goals for Gooch and more importantly Wyke! He’s not a 20 goal a season striker but his hard work deserves rewards”

@AM_RokerRapport tweeted: “We never thought we’d be seeing this turnaround at the Bolton home game. Full credit to Parkinson: he has, as Simon Grayson would say, ‘turned the titanic’.”

@SirTimRice added: “Wow.3-0upvBristolRovers. Dare we start to hope for automatic promotion? Playoffs not historically encouraging for@SunderlandAFC”
