West End boss Liddle wants to end poor form

Sunderland West End boss Darren Liddle wants his side to end the season with a run of form – starting at home to Willington on Saturday.

West End are without a win in their last six league games ahead of their meeting with Ibby Hassan’s side and they sit fourthfrom­bottominth­eDivision Two table.

But with relegation all but avoided, Liddle wants his players to focus on bringing a positive end to their first season as a Northern League club.

He said: “Willington was oneofthega­mesthatwel­ooked at and thought it would be a goodchance­togetthree­points.

“But in the last few weeks they seem to have kicked on.

“It’s still a winnable game forus,andlooking­atthegames aheadofus,wecanstrin­garun of results together.

“We have four of five tough games and four or five winnableon­esaheadofu­s,soweneed to start a bit of a run to end the season in a positive way.”

West End will be without the suspended Luke McCabe.

Jarrowhasb­eenboosted­by the news that Alexander Bone, Phil Gray and James Norton will all return to contention for their visit to league leaders West Allotment Celtic.

Secondplac­edCrookTow­n will hope to take advantage of any slip-ups by the leaders when they entertain Chesterle-Street Town at Millfield.

Redcar Athletic look well set to secure promotion into the Northern League’s top tier as they lie in third – but they will be without key striker Adam Preston for their home game against Tow Law Town.

And Ryton and Crawcrook Albion will hope to regain the fourth and final promotion place with a home win against struggling Washington.

Billingham Synthonia moved into the top four with a 3-1 win against Chester-leStreet and they will look for a sixthconse­cutivevict­orywhen they travel to Esh Winning.

Carlisle City have a full squad available for their home game against Heaton Stanningto­n and Durham City could hand a debut to striker Tevahn Tyrell when they host Birtley Town.

And Newcastle University go looking for a first win in five games when they travel to Bedlington Terriers.
