Callum Hodgson and Dean Smith dominated things for Hall Farm Doxy Lad FC grabbing three each in a 7-3 thriller against The Victory Club at Herrington Park with Maskell scoring from the bench.

The Victory Club did have a say in the scoreline with three goals coming from Carr, Topping and Finch.

In the Third Division sponsored by DST Shutters, Washington United

and Washington New Tavern slugged it out in a hard-fought derby clash.

The derby encounter had everything you’d expect from any good rivalry.

Both of United’s centre halves in Adam Cameron and Steven Freeman were ushered off the pitch after each receiving second yellow cards.

The football was end to end and it was all in all a very tight score line of 4-3 to the visiting New Tavern side which seen them overlap AFC Houghton into first place with a game in hand.

The hosts had Phipps, Quinn and Ramdens score but the Tavern found the win via McIntrye, Robinson and a matchwinni­ng brace from Wilson.

Grindon Broadway landed a 3-1 win over Washington Blue Bell Inn to see them slip to the bottom of the league.

Grindon had super sub Adam McQuillan hit two goals and the other sub McCully also scored after coming off the bench.

The Washington side had Adam Smith reply.

Sunderland North, who had Shaun Nunn score, hosted The Grange in a comfortabl­e 5-1 victory for the visitors.

Perry hit two goals followed by further strikes from Shaw, Mather and Lane.
