Ryhope boss Pearson frustrated by home draw

my mind.

“Credit to Guisborough, but I just think that we have bossed the first half to get a two-goal cushion and we should have done better in the second.

“There were a couple of errors that we have gifted them, and we panicked a little bit.

“Guisborough couldn’t have complained if we were three or four up in the first half – but credit to them again because they’re a good side and a good club.”

Sunderland RCA came from behind to claim a first victory in four matches in their 2-1 success against Whitley Bay.

Michael Colquhoun put the four-time FA Vase winners ahead just after the midway point of the first half – but it was RCA that took the points thanks to second-half goals from Dylan Elliott and Nathan O’Neill.

Stockton Town continued their push for the Division One title as they remained 13 points clear at the top of the table with a goalless draw at West Auckland Town.

Shildon lie in second place as they came out on top in a battle of two promotion challengers against Hebburn Town.

A first half penalty from Billy Greulich-Smith was the difference between the two sides at the Energy Check Sports Ground.

North Shields could only take a point from their home game against Ashington in a goalless draw on North Tyneside and a brace from Liam Jarvis and a goal apiece from Marc Costello and Jake Petitjean helped Newton Aycliffe to a 4-1 win at Penrith.

Northallerton Town remain at the bottom of the league table after they fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Newcastle Benfield.

Joe Robson and Dennis Knight put Benfield in control with two first-half goals and they held on for the win despite Connor Dunlavey reducing the arrears on 73 minutes.

Jackson Waller’s late equaliser earned Bishop Auckland a point from their visit to Thornaby after Dale Hopson had put the hosts ahead with his first goal for the club.

And Whickham boosted their survival hopes with a 4-2 win at Billingham Town.

Damien Stevens and Scott McCarthy put the visitors in control of proceedings but they were pegged back by quickfire goals from Luke

Hogan and Chris Dickinson.

However, it was Mark Convery’s side that came out on top thanks to a Lee McAndrew penalty and a Tom Scothern goal.

In Division Two, Sunderland West End manager Darren Liddle offered an honest assessment of his side’s goalless home draw against Willington.

The two sides failed to break the deadlock over a turgid 90 minutes at Nissan Sports Complex where the wind and rain hampered any attempts to get some momentum going.

Even the dismissal of Willington’s Reece Marshall early in the second half couldn’t help West End to a first triumph in eight in a contest that Liddle described as “one of the worst games he has seen”.

He told The Echo: “It’s frustrating, especially with Willington being down to ten men.

“The conditions were awful and our pitch was the worst I have seen it so far.

“But, to be positive, we have kept a clean sheet and we have taken a point from the game.

“Defensively we are in order, but we have to get things going up front.

“It was probably one of the worst games I have seen if I am honest.”

Consett joined Northern League rivals Hebburn Town in the semi-final of the FA Vase with a hard-earned win in their game at Midland League club Atherstone Town.

It was the hosts that took the lead with ten minutes on the clock with a fine low drive from midfielder Ryan Quinn.

A second half equaliser from Jermaine Metz took the tie into extra-time, and Consett came through a difficult test as two headers from Calvin Smith set up a two-legged semi-final tie for the victors against Western League club Bitton.
