Seaham RUFC returned to action with a 49-5 win at Jarrovians.

Prior to the fixture, both teams movingly observed a minute's applause to honour the memory of former Seaham hooker Dave Martin, who passed away earlier in the week, aged just 55.

The visitors started well with skipper Chris B land dominant with the ball in hand. One of his rampaging runs up the middle drew the defence and created a gap for Elliott Pr att to touch down in the left corner with four minutes played.

Seaham suffered an unfortunate injury blow on six minutes when debutant centre Harry-John Morgan tweaked a ham string and was forced off.

In the 15th minute John Paul broke from an advancing five-metre sc rum and touched down. Connor Drinkwater added the conversion for 12-0.

The hosts’ efforts were rewarded on 18 minutes when their strong-running inside centre crossed for a try to make it 12-5.

Prattdoub led his tally on 26 minutes when Brad Robinson broke from a scrum and fed fly-half Jonny Foster. He sold a dummy before delivering a fine scoring pass. Drinkwater added the extras for 19-5.

The Harbour secured a precious try bonus point just after the half-hour when James Bromley finished a swashbuckling move then Craig Jones added a fifth try to put his team into a 29-5 lead heading into the break.

John Paul extended the lead on 44 minutes when Seaham had a line out close to the hosts' try line. Mick Bland rose well and tapped down delicately for the big number eight to notch his second try of the game.

Drink water added try numbers even in the 56 th minute when he kept pace with an elusive Ian Chapman break and was on hand to take the offload and cross the line.

Three minutes later, Jones notched his second score of the game following a strong run by Craig Gilmour.

The player-coach was tackled but recycled through Pratt and Chapman then he fed Jones for the score.

Bromley scored his second try on 61 minutes to cap a flowing move.

Unfortunately, the game ended when a brawl erupted six minutes later and the referee abandoned the fixture.

Seaham's development team, the Harbarians beat hosts Acklam Talbots 31-24.
