It’s a plus for fans of all things Disney

-

If you’re a fan of all things Disney, then you’re in for a treat with the UK launch of Disney+, their new streaming service.

Disney aims to take on the big guns of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with their new streaming service, which has already attracted nearly 29 million sign-ups since it launched in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands in November.

March 24 sawthe UK and Ireland added to that list.

So, what’s it all about, and why should you sign up?

Well, Disney+ will be home to all things Disney, from Pixar and Marvel to Star Wars, National Geographic and 20th Century Fox (including The Simpsons), so you’ll be eventually able to watch every Disney movie in the one place for a single subscription fee.

However, one of the main attractions of the new service will be the range of original content Disney plans to delight us with.

There’s already been a major taste of this with The Mandalorian (which gave us Baby Yoda, of course) –and it’s set to return for its second season in October.

Another live-action Star Wars series – a prequel to Rogue One – is due to begin shooting this year.

Marvel original shows are also set to be a big hit, and will star the same actors as the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and will tie in closely with those.

The first of these to arrive on our screens will be The Falcon and The Winter Soldier with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, while WandaVision, with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, will follow closely on its heels.

A new Loki series – featuring Tom Hiddleston – is set to be launched next spring.

And as their contracts with other streaming services come to an end, more movies from Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and Disney will be added to the Disney+ gallery.

So, how can you watch it, and will it be available on all devices?

Well, Disney has confirmed the wide list of platforms which will support the service, including iOS and Android, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, Roku streaming devices, and PS4 and Xbox One.

And the cost? Well, it’s £59.99 for the year, so if you’ve little Disney fans in the house – or even notso-little ones – you won’t want to let this go!
